Hi Everyone - Last week was a BIG week. We hosted a coffee event, and I also separately hosted an event for top creators in Austin. The events were a huge hit, and we are starting to rethink our approach because of it.

This week:

  • A current status update for the week

  • Our lesson about events

  • A/B test update

  • What we are working on

Weekly Update

This week we added 130 subscribers, up 36 from last week. We are starting to see some organic traffic come in from instagram and linkedin which is nice. We also saw some growth from connections at the networking events.

I’m almost done revising the Austin networking guide. This actually opened up a way bigger project for our website. We decided to go off of Beehiiv for our products in favor of lemon squeezy. Although they take a cut, people can buy our products directly in our welcome flow. We think this is a massive upgrade. It reduces the amount of actions that someone needs to take to buy our guides from like 5 clicks to 2. Hopefully I will be able to finish this rollout by July 19th when I can’t use claude fable to code anymore.

Our coffee event was a huge hit. In the end we got 97 signups and about 40 people to actually turn out to the event. I think this was a huge success for 8am on a Wednesday.

Our Lesson About Events

First, we are not in the event business. Our intention is not to really ever be in the event business.

Still, running the coffee meetup had a huge return on investment, but probably not in the way you think. By getting so many people out to the event and by building such a big list on luma we created a tremendous amount of trust and social proof.

Luma organically shared our event which led to new subscribers and awareness. People coming to our event impressed people who were prospective sponsors. Existing subscribers that showed up were validated in that they weren’t the only ones getting value from our platform.

This was legit an all around win-win.

We are planning to run some coffee events like this quarterly. Our bigger play will likely be to partner on events where we drive traffic while someone else runs it. This hits our sweet spot after our experience here.

A/B test update

This past week, I ran 4 different options for our landing page. You can see the different versions below.

So far, the results have been… inconclusive. The original (top image has been performing the best, but it is still normalizing). Hopefully we see the final results within the next 2 weeks.
